As a makeup artist, I have always believed that beauty is more than flawless makeup or beautiful fashion, it’s about confidence, purpose, and the stories people carry with them. Working backstage for Suidhaghaa at the MISS & MRS Cross Continent was a beautiful reminder of exactly that.
From the moment I stepped backstage, I was surrounded by an incredible atmosphere. The room was filled with creativity, fashion, artistry, and excitement. Makeup artists, hairstylists, designers, models, and organisers were all working together, each playing an important role in bringing the runway to life. It was inspiring to witness so much talent and passion gathered under one roof.
What made this experience even more special for me was the purpose behind the pageant. The event championed the message of creating a drug-free world, a cause that deeply resonated with me. Knowing that I was contributing, in my own small way, to an event that stood for something meaningful made the experience even more fulfilling. It reminded me that beauty and fashion can be powerful platforms for creating awareness and inspiring positive change.
Working with the stunning Suidhaghaa was equally exciting. Every look was thoughtfully designed, and my role was to create makeup that complemented the elegance of each outfit while allowing every model’s natural beauty to shine through. Backstage was fast-paced, but there was an incredible sense of teamwork and mutual support that made every moment enjoyable.
One of the highlights of the evening was witnessing the crowning of Nividetha as the winner. Her response during the final question touched everyone in the room. She shared that showing up, no matter what, is the true victory, and that message stayed with me long after the event ended. In a world where we often measure success by the final outcome, her words were a beautiful reminder that courage, resilience, and simply choosing to show up are victories in themselves.
As I watched the models confidently walk the runway, I felt grateful to have been part of such a memorable event. Behind every polished runway look is a team working with dedication, creativity, and passion, and I was honoured to be one of them.
This experience wasn’t just another event on my journey as a makeup artist, it was an opportunity to be part of something that celebrated beauty with purpose. I left feeling inspired, motivated, and even more passionate about the work I do.
Here’s to many more opportunities to create, collaborate, and be part of events that make a meaningful impact.
Thank you to Poojan for this opportunity, and a special thank you to my friend Rashmi for coming along to help me despite having no makeup client experience and she did an amazing job.
